In these unsettling and disturbing times it is even more important to reach out to each other and make sure we find help when we need it. As well as face to face sessions I also offer counselling via telephone and video, on Skype or WhatsApp.
If you need to talk to someone please do not suffer in silence
Hello my name is Ian. I am a qualified and accredited Counsellor who can offer you a calm space, along with the time and understanding to help you reconnect with yourself.
Your journey is my journey and I promise to work honestly and openly alongside you with every step you take. As a counsellor my goal is to help you grow from your struggles, heal from your pain and move forward in your life.
Through counselling my aim is to help you explore, understand and become more aware of your inner strengths and learn to challenge and overcome what is holding you back. By providing a neutral safe space, listening to your concerns and working congruently with you we can work together to help you achieve your potential.
I work in an integrative way using a Pyschodynamic/Person Centred approach tailored to your needs. I also use some ideas from TA and Gestalt theory to enhance the work undertaken. I have worked with a wide range of people from 12 - 70 with many different reasons for coming to counselling. Depression, loss and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions that we can experience at some point in our lives. Through counselling we can explore these feelings and begin to help you recover your motivation, perspective and the joy you once had in your life.
You may be experiencing symptoms from past traumatic and painful events in your life which are impacting you in the present. Anxiety, fear and feelings of hopelessness may be holding you back and preventing you from moving forward. Counselling can help you overcome these symptoms and guide you through the process of grief and healing.
I believe it is the relationship we build between us that can help you on your journey, but it is the relationship you build with yourself that is the most important. Through counselling I would like to help you build that relationship.
I have worked with people aged 13 to 80 with different reasons for coming to counselling. Whatever your age and reasons for looking for a counsellor do not hesitate to contact me directly.
I have specific knowledge of working in and working with certain areas of interest - such as; adoption, grief, depression, anxiety, family feuds and LGBT matters.
Counselling is a talking therapy to help you rediscover yourself again. As your counsellor I would like to help you find the belief in yourself you may have lost and in the process talk myself out of a job.
A Counselling Session is based on 50 minutes (longer sessions can be arranged as and when required)
A 30 minute counselling session to introduce ourselves and see if you would like to start
Usually weekly counselling sessions at a set time, but we can discuss alternative arrangements - fortnightly or monthly depending on your requirements.
I can offer a limited number of clients reduced rates based on their circumstances - please do not hesitate to discuss this with me.
I understand sometimes things can happen unexpectedly to prevent you attending your weekly session, but please try and let me know as soon as possible if you are unable to attend.
Please try to give me as much notice prior to our session if you need to cancel. There will be no charge for sessions cancelled 24+ hours in advance. If possible we can reschedule the session for another day/time (if mutually agreed and based on availability) if not we can continue the following week.
For cancellations with less than 24 hours notice the full rate of your usual session is applied.
Please contact me with your questions.
